German outdoor brand Heimplanet has unveiled a bold and visually striking addition to its premium tent lineup—the limited edition Neo Black Program. Designed with inspiration from Japanese minimalist camping culture and the concept of Seijaku (静寂), meaning tranquility in stillness, the new tents offer a sleek monochromatic aesthetic while maintaining the brand’s hallmark performance and design features.
The Neo Black collection reimagines two of Heimplanet’s most popular airframe models—The Cave XL and Backdoor—with a distinctive all-black exterior and a special version of Heimplanet’s signature Cairo Camo pattern on the inner tent fabric. Both models are 4-season shelters, engineered to withstand harsh weather conditions while providing a serene, orderly atmosphere at any basecamp.
The Cave XL, Neo Black
The Cave XL, Neo Black features a solution-dyed 75-denier ripstop polyester flysheet and a 40-denier ripstop nylon inner tent. It boasts Heimplanet’s signature high-tenacity inflatable airframe, allowing for rapid setup in less than one minute with an optional air pump (sold separately for $55). Weighing in at 12.7 pounds (5.7 kg), the tent is better suited for car camping or basecamp use rather than backpacking. Despite its weight, the model provides a stable and robust shelter, built for quick deployment and long-lasting durability.
Backdoor, Neo Black
The Backdoor, Neo Black is the more spacious of the two, offering a total interior space of 96.9 square feet, compared to the Cave XL’s 58.1 square feet. It weighs slightly more at 14.7 pounds (6.6 kg), yet retains the same durable flysheet and inner tent materials. Like its sibling, it uses an identical airframe design and can be pitched in under three minutes with the aid of a floor pump. The Backdoor model is ideal for campers seeking extra room without compromising on stability or performance.
Launching the Neo Black Program, Heimplanet emphasized the collection’s aesthetic influence: “The Neo Black Program [is] a limited all-black edition of two of [our] most popular tents, an homage to the minimalist and functional Japanese camping aesthetic. Because making a bold statement doesn’t require being loud.”
Heimplanet, founded by two designers named Stefan, was born out of frustration with traditional tents. Their mission was to design forward-thinking shelters that merge natural patterns, mathematical precision, and real-world durability. Over the last decade, the company has developed a full range of inflatable air tents known for their geometric exteriors and sleek, minimalist look.
Sustainability remains a key focus for Heimplanet. The company is a member of 1% for the Planet and actively works to reduce its environmental footprint. Its tents are manufactured using solution-dyed fabrics to reduce water usage, and all water-repellent coatings are free from harmful PFCs, aligning with environmentally responsible production practices.
With the launch of the Neo Black Program, Heimplanet continues to push the envelope in both tent design and outdoor aesthetics, offering a fresh take for campers who value both performance and style.
