by Alice

The New York Knicks are now just two wins away from advancing to the Eastern Conference finals after stunning the Boston Celtics in back-to-back games. In a thrilling finish on Wednesday night, the Knicks pulled off another incredible comeback, winning 91-90 to take a 2-0 lead in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

For the second consecutive game, the Knicks found themselves in a difficult situation, facing a team that has rarely allowed comebacks this season. However, Mikal Bridges once again played a key role in turning the game around, sealing the victory with his second consecutive game-ending steal. Bridges scored all 14 of his points in the fourth quarter, leading his team to a remarkable comeback.

Jalen Brunson also made crucial plays for the Knicks, scoring 17 points, including two free throws with 12.7 seconds remaining to give New York a 91-90 lead. Josh Hart contributed 23 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 21 points and 17 rebounds. With their second consecutive win, the Knicks will now host Game 3 on Saturday.

Struggles for the Celtics

The Celtics faced challenges on both ends of the floor. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White each scored 20 points, but the team struggled with their shooting, making just 10 of 40 three-pointers after shooting 15 of 60 in Game 1. Jayson Tatum was held to 13 points on 5-for-19 shooting, and the Celtics went more than eight minutes without a field goal in the fourth quarter.

Knicks on the Verge of History

Historically, teams that win the first two games of a best-of-seven series on the road win the series 85.7% of the time. The Knicks took Game 1 in dramatic fashion when Bridges stole the ball from Brown with just seconds left in overtime.

Celtics Look to Respond

Despite being swept 4-0 by the Knicks during the regular season, the Celtics are determined to bounce back. “We’ve got to respond,” said Brown after the game, acknowledging the tough challenge ahead. Meanwhile, Kristaps Porzingis, who missed Game 1 with an illness, came off the bench in Game 2 and contributed eight points and four rebounds in 14 minutes.

Late Celtics Push Falls Short

The Celtics briefly regained momentum late in the third quarter, using a 16-6 run to extend their lead to 73-53. However, the Knicks refused to back down. With the score at 86-82 in favor of the Celtics, New York made a comeback with key plays from Hart and Towns, cutting the lead to just one point.

Brunson then made an 18-footer to give the Knicks the lead, and despite a late dunk from Tatum to put the Celtics back ahead, Brunson’s two free throws secured the win for New York. With the victory, the Knicks now have a chance to take a commanding 3-0 series lead on Saturday.
