Blacktail Mountain Ski Area is inviting both locals and tourists to enjoy the mountain in a whole new way this summer, offering an array of outdoor activities, scenic camping opportunities, and family-friendly recreation that takes full advantage of its spectacular alpine setting.
Beginning Wednesday, June 18, and continuing through Monday, September 1, the mountain above Flathead Lake will shift from a winter playground into a vibrant summer retreat. Visitors can look forward to dry camping, hiking and biking trails, a mountainside disc golf course, off-road vehicle rentals, and a fully stocked camp store, all nestled within the natural beauty of the high-altitude landscape.
The camping experience at Blacktail is designed for those seeking simplicity and immersion in nature. Spacious dry camping sites are available for tents, trailers, and RVs, providing wide-open mountain views and fresh air. While there are no hookups, campers have 24-hour access to lodge restrooms and potable water. Reservations can be made online or secured on a first-come, first-served basis, with a designated camp host on site to assist guests.
In support of these summer adventures, the Blacktail Trading Company retail store has been revamped into a summer camp hub. Open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the store is stocked with everything from logo apparel and camping essentials to trail snacks, disc golf gear, and locally made items. It serves as the perfect stop before heading out for a hike or winding down by the fire.
Popular trails such as the Lakeside to Blacktail Trail and Foys to Blacktail Trail offer scenic routes for both hikers and bikers, with maps and insider tips available at the camp store. For those looking for an adrenaline rush, off-road vehicle rentals will be offered starting mid-June at Blacktail’s highway location in Lakeside. These rentals allow guests to explore the Wild Bill area and its rugged, mountainous terrain.
Karie Helms, Blacktail’s Marketing Director, shared her excitement about the summer offerings, stating, “We’re excited to open the mountain this summer for family fun outdoor adventures. Whether you’re hiking or biking one of the local scenic trails, playing a round of disc golf with your friends, or exploring backcountry roads in one of our off-road rental vehicles, we think you’re going to fall in love with summer at Blacktail just as much as you love it in the winter.”
With trail maps, local knowledge, and a welcoming staff on hand, Blacktail Mountain is prepared to deliver a memorable summer season full of outdoor exploration. Whether it’s for a weekend getaway or an extended stay under the stars, Blacktail offers an ideal mountain escape—just a few clicks away with easy online booking.
