A woman has been safely rescued after being reported missing for several days while hiking near Sedona, Arizona.
On Friday, June 13, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing camper in an area known as the “Edge of the World.” Authorities identified the missing individual as 32-year-old Janell Banda, who had reportedly left her campsite and descended into a nearby side canyon but never returned.
Search operations were launched over the weekend with assistance from multiple agencies. These included the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team, ground crews, search dogs, and aerial support from both the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Air Rescue units.
Banda was located on Monday, June 16, suffering from dehydration and minor injuries. The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit deployed its Super Huey helicopter to hoist her from the mountainous terrain and transport her to Sedona Airport. From there, the Sedona Fire Department transferred her to Verde Valley Medical Center for further medical evaluation.
No additional details have been released at this time.
