Cyclists Rally at Hampton Beach, Raise Over $900K for Alzheimer’s Research

by Alice

More than 400 cyclists gathered on Saturday at Hampton Beach State Park for the 29th annual Ride to End Alzheimer’s New England. The event featured scenic routes ranging from 30 to 100 miles, each designed to raise awareness and support for the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

Organized by the American Alzheimer’s Association, the ride brought together participants from across the region to support a cause that touches thousands. According to the association, over 25,000 residents of New Hampshire—known as Granite Staters—are currently living with Alzheimer’s.

Among the riders was Kathleen Archer, who rides in memory of her mother. For Archer, the event has evolved into a meaningful family tradition.

“My mother was a wonderful person, and she didn’t deserve this. No one deserves this disease,” Archer shared. “It’s really become a family affair for me. My sister started riding in 2014, and I’ve been riding for the last 11 years. My husband rides, my nephew rides, my cousins ride, friends ride—we’ve all been touched by this awful disease.”

So far, the ride has raised more than $900,000, putting it well on the way to reaching its $1 million goal. All proceeds from the event will go toward funding Alzheimer’s and dementia research.
